New beginings

So i moved into a new place, which has taking over my everyday actions as far as settling in and making myself at home.

And now that all is said and done I am excited to call it my new home.

Built some stuff for it as well that makes it easier to call home. Work includes magnetizing and chalk boarding the door.

Building my new bed four feet off the ground.

Building out the closet.

Rearranging everything to fit just right.

Star Party

Its wednesday night and you know what that means, physics department opening up its doors for the curious to gaze up at the stars through their telescopes. So far I have seen the moon which much detail, so much so I snapped this shot with my phones camera.

We also looked at the dumbbell nebula, with the light pollution however it looked more like a cloud. A cloud of stars.

And then right before I was thinking of leaving, they move the big telescope and we all were able to gander on Jupiter. Star party.

For some reason

I cant get over the thought and hope that with enough effort I could someday raise a bear cub and have it as a pet for my children to play with.

And I think these would be cool plates to eat off of.

Year of the TIGER!!!

A little late but not so sorry...
As of February 14th the Year of the Tiger began:

Tigers are physically powerful, gracious, independent and brave, they are extremely bold animals. They are friendly and loving but can also selfish and short tempered. Tigers seek attention and power; frequently they are envious in a relation. Tigers live dangerously which often leads to trouble. They are intolerant, take risks and are always searching for excitement. Tigers are also instilled with a good dose of courage.
The Tiger has an overpowering attraction and is very kind and always takes on the character as protector. The Tiger flourishes by power and attention and takes advantage of all circumstances it gets itself into. The Tiger is a natural leader and loves to be the centre of attention. As a rebel it goes up against authority and speaks out about wrongs in society, and willingly puts up objections. Even if you don’t agree with the beliefs of the tiger you admire his way to protest. Just as how their counterparts in the jungle are impulsive, so too are individuals born in the Chinese Year of the Tiger.
When people think of tigers, it is their vigor and power that comes to mind first. But it has also been noted that tigers are known to share and are unselfish animals. The reason people admire the tiger is due to the fact that they are ferocious and domineering on the outside, but they are just as noble and distinguished on the inside. These are the same personality attributes that persons will have who are born in the Year of the Tiger.

So be bold, be brave and be courageous. And do it quick as we only have until February 10th 2011.

Its not so bad

Day two - Master Cleanse

11:40 PM - 200.5 LB

Kind of a cop out not eating today. The food shared at our break the fast was so delicious and I limited myself to living foods. Greens or mostly greens. The tea has not yet produced the effect I was looking or hoping for, maybe with more time. Tomorrow the true cleansing begins.

Seven Years in Tibet

Great Movie, nothing like the book. I hope that the book is seen for its historical content as compared with the movies false personalities and story lines. The book adds a sincere sense of life and death that the group faced within the many months wandering from Indian through Tibeten countryside in winter. Eventually actualizing their dreams of reaching the forbidden city of Lhasa and being granted permission to live there during the war. Greeted constantly by the hospitality of the Tibetan people who gave of precious food supplies to support these two escaped German climbers considered prisoners of the English war efforts. With strict respect for ancient tradition the Tibetan people had effectively kept the outside world from deteriorating their strict love for one another and family and giving to all those in need. Refreshing to come across when compared to the society we currently live in. Granted it was not a perfect place, the upper plateaus of Tibet were littered with bandits who fall upon all they come across with lies and deceptions and tricks to steal all their possessions or murder them. Many of these bandits victims were pilgrims who had been traveling great distances at a serious cost to themselves and their standings. I could continue on and on about the book. Perhaps the primitive nature of their surroundings and customs that is most alluring to the senses longing for a society where all ants and worker bees fulfilled duties with an yearning to support the structure of the nest, hive, community, government, or country.

I love Brad Pitts work in Seven Years in Tibet and his other movies during that time period. But Heinrich Harrer is the true German climber of whom the story is told better in word than motion picture and hopefully someday they will make the movie of his story in Tibet.

The Master Cleanse

The Master Cleanse
Day 1. Research and Deploy

4:51 PM - 204 lbs.
So far my plans have included a last meal and purchasing a laxative tea that I might have just drank to much of. I read the directions after I started drinking it. I have tried this before and have never truly prepared for it properly. I am overcome with resolute commitment to following the cleanse until I purge myself of the physiological need to eat. Lots of reading worshiping the porcelain shrine is in store for my future ten to twelve days. I have noticed discomforts in my abdominal region for some time now and know its time to take over and get back my bowels. Herbal tea should be doing its thing hopefully prior to my soccer game at around 9 o'clock this evening. Its about five and I am not sure if its the workout I just had or the herbal tea causing that rumbling in my tumbler.....

The best running shoe

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The best running shoe may be none at all, U.S. researchers said on Wednesday.

Sports | Health | Lifestyle

Runners who eschew shoes may be less likely to do serious injury to their feet, because they hold their feet differently, Daniel Lieberman of Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts and colleagues found.

Writing in the journal Nature, they said runners who wear shoes tend to hit the ground with their heels first, whereas barefoot runners put the balls of the feet down first.

"People who don't wear shoes when they run have an astonishingly different strike," Lieberman said in a statement.

"By landing on the middle or front of the foot, barefoot runners have almost no impact collision, much less than most shod runners generate when they heel-strike," Lieberman added.

"Most people today think barefoot running is dangerous and hurts, but actually you can run barefoot on the world's hardest surfaces without the slightest discomfort and pain. All you need is a few calluses to avoid roughing up the skin of the foot."

Lieberman and his colleagues at Harvard, the University of Glasgow, and Kenya's Moi University studied runners who had always run barefoot, those who had always worn shoes and runners who had abandoned shoes.

Barefoot runners had a springier step overall, and used their calf and foot muscles more efficiently, they found.

Demonstrations can be seen here.

People used to running in shoes should not start barefoot trotting right away, Lieberman cautioned. "If you've been a heel-striker all your life, you have to transition slowly to build strength in your calf and foot muscles," he said.

But he noted that evolution is on his side.

"Humans have engaged in endurance running for millions of years, but the modern running shoe was not invented until the 1970s," Lieberman said. Rival German companies Adidas and Puma made running shoes a household item.

Running shoes are big business. Nike Inc had $4.4 billion in revenue in its second quarter.

Book presents

I was been given great books this year. First was Three Cups of Tea-
Alpine climbers lost in the Himalayas stumble upon a village that receives and aids the lost climbers. Climbers promise to return and build schools and have continued to do so to this day throughout Pakistan and Afghanistan and all along the Himalayas. Their efforts have proven concrete evidence of education as a weapon against terrorism, far more effective than terror itself. Awesome.
Second was The Last American Man-
Recounts the events in the life of an outdoor enthusiast who sets out to teach all those he comes in contact with the benefits of living a more primitive lifestyle. Through thick and thin the hero lives his ways and in also sets records for equestrian feats. Eustace Conway is said hero and has his own 1000 acres where he farms in a primitive way and lives off the land as well as holds a camp for teaching future generations the benefits of being a real human. I cried at times and laughed many times, maybe even a mixture of both once or twice.

This is the year of the books. So far so good. Theodore Roosevelt used to read a book each day before breakfast. His biography is next on the list. Its a workout just opening and I hope to be a stronger person after having read it. To little emphasis is put on studying these greats today. Caught up in the rush of technology I feel there is a lot of good stuff falling through the cracks. It feels so good to finish a book. I can actually feel my lexicon growing. And it feels delicious.

The Song of the Earth

I live in memory
But I am not any such thing that you can touch as a pleasure, or lust for spring
Sing the song of the earth and know everything

I am a lazy river forgotten within you
But I am not any such thing you can deny
Sing the song of the earth and you must cry from the waves lapping at your door

We all fawn overreaching beyond humble goals
Thinking that by trying or dying we needn't finish what we started
Sing the song of the earth and millions die
Telling stories backwards

We rumble our feet to no response
Cut down every tree to count the rings
Hallow to the core her supple body
And demand the void to come before us
Sing the song of the earth and know the secret is no seeker after all

We sing the song of the earth as we rest
As the old scenes are worn down with rain
Children are allowed to forget
So we live as memory and they live tomorrow

The song of the earth is never done
So sing it as it must be sung
Into my ear she'll listen
Confessing all

Seven Dwarfes, where is Snow white?

Seven Strong all mining away,
In and out from day to day,
The dishes pile and sparks fly,
Till strong words make dishes dry.

The living room can seat us all,
Such a siting would need a call,
Not made by mere porto phone,
But by tromp of sturdy horn.

With intent of course to band together,
And galliently go out against the weather,
To vanquish foes and trample weeds
And establish some sort of creed,

To be upheld for years to come,
By many a citizen old and young,
But alas the dream awakes,
And we find that each of us takes

Different turns and different strides,
As each desire to band subsides,
For alone we hope for different things,
As taught through different upbringing:

"In this world you can accomplish
Anything you set out to do,
So beware others wishes and wants with you,
For you they will use to catch their fish,

And you'll watch them eat it
and waste some too,
And all you'll be left with,
Is their pile of poo."

So what now of the seven fellows,
Where can we find a common bellow
To shoot in one accord and song,
And become a band of seven strong?

Where than is our great snow white,
And where than is adventures gate.
Hidden well from youthful eyes,
So secretly and quitly it hides.

Twisting through our ways and lives,
Plundering husbands and wifes,
Whispering evil shards of glass,
It lies in wait amongst the grass.

Eating through our pocket books,
Snickering in smoke filled nooks,
trolling the banks of every shore,
Hoping we never hear his roar.

For on this day blindedly so,
We fight with every step we go,
To uphold ourselves as best we can,
And in so doing united stand.

With courage held in blinded band,
Grab fast the heroic masters hand,
With daily thank and words of mouth,
We beg the hero for his help,

For soon the lighted banners fly,
From all across the sunlit sky,
Tears of joy and gladness commence,
The heros come for recompence.

To reign with sword held high in hand,
His faithful who did not disband,
The ones he choose to do his work,
And did so daily without a shirk.

Great tales will be told,
For ages before and after,
Those who were there,
Have given to the air.

Recent thoughts

Recently finished a book about Common Law versus Civil Law. Interesting little ditty about the medieval roots of our judicial system and its takeover of settling or perhaps unsettling American issues. The Common Law system is basically established between lawyers of the guild and has been slowly reformed making it a separate dimension of understanding outside of the public understanding. The author portrayed the Common Law practice as an enterprise with roots established deeply in the art of warfare and pitting the two parties in debate against one another as well as a means for economic and social gain on a plain above all citizens. ITS ENTIRELY MID EVIL!!! All around the world countries practice Civil Law, where one is not esteemed as a lawyer but respected as one. The lawyers job in Civil Law involves following a set of laws established by the government and upheld by the government that originated out of the public's mouth. The lawyers job is than to make sure all parties are of like understanding and quell any hard feelings had between parties. To insure that everyone understands and follows the voice of the public, how complicated can we make it then? Many times lawyers have been compared to sharks, but I feel we have entered the age of mid-evil sharks now with laser beams attached to their foreheads. But who am I, but a mere peasant, with my limited understanding of the deeply routed system of Common Law to pass judgment on a highly lucrative highly elevated branch of sophisticated dukes and lords that rule from above me....

PS. There are branches of Common Law that still retain their decency by specializing to a certain branch of law that upholds a certain aspect of society. Patent lawyers one example of many more. I only portray the feeling had voiced from the recent book I read. If anyone knows of evidence in support of Common Law practice I would be obliged to prolong the case before coming to a verdict on the matter.

Put that in your blender

Guess our national leaders didn't expect this, hmm?

Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton, Colorado, was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee's sub-committee.

What he said to our national leaders during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful. They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert!

These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness. The following is a portion of the transcript:

"Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers." "The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field.

The villain was not the club he used. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain's heart. "In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA.

I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA - because I don't believe that they are responsible for my daughter's death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel's murder I would be their strongest opponent."

"I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy-it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room.

Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. "I wrote a poem that expresses my feelings best. This was written way before I knew I would be speaking here today:"

Your laws ignore our deepest needs,
Your words are empty air.
You've stripped away our heritage,
You've outlawed simple prayer.

Now gunshots fill our classrooms,
And precious children die.
You seek for answers everywhere,
And ask the question "Why?"

You regulate restrictive laws,
Through legislative creed.
And yet you fail to understand,
That God is what we need!

"Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, soul, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and reek havoc. Spiritual influences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation's history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact.

What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine's tragedy occurs politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties.

We do not need more restrictive laws." Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts.

Political posturing and restrictive legislation are not the answers. The young people of our nation hold the key. There is a spiritual awakening taking place that will not be squelched! We do not need more religion. We do not need more gaudy television evangelists spewing out verbal religious garbage. We do not need more million dollar church buildings built while people with basic needs are being ignored.

We do need a change of heart and a humble acknowledgment that this nation was founded on the principle of simple trust in God!" "As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes, He did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that right!

I challenge every young person in America, and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him. To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA- I give to you a sincere challenge.

Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone! My daughter's death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!"

Do what the media did not... let the nation hear this man's speech.

Lost Generation by Jonathon Reed

I am part of a lost generation
and I refuse to believe that
I can change the world
I realize this may be a shock but
'Happiness comes from within'
is a lie, and
'Money will make me happy'
So in thirty years I will tell my children
they are not the most important thing in my life.
My employer will know that
I have my priorities straight because
work
is more important than
family
I tell you this
Once upon a time
Families stayed together
but this will not be true in my era
this is a quick fix society
Experts tell me
Thirty years from now I will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of my divorce
I do not concede that
I will live in a country of my own making
In the future
Environmental destruction will be the norm
No longer can it be said that
My peers and I care about this earth
It will be evident that
My generation is apathetic and lethargic
It is foolish to presume that
There is hope.

And all of this will come true unless we choose to reverse it.

There is hope.
It is foolish to presume that
my generation is apathetic and lethargic
It will be evident that
My peers and I care about this earth
No longer can it be said that
Environmental destruction will be the norm
In the future
I will live in a country of my own making
I do not concede that
Thirty years from now I will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of my divorce
Experts tell me
this is a quick fix society
but this will not be true in my era
Families stayed together
Once upon a time
I tell you this
family
is more important than
work
I have my priorities straight because
My employer will know that
they are not the most important thing in my life.
So in thirty years I will tell my children
'Money will make me happy'
is a lie, and
'Happiness comes from within'
I realize this may be a shock but
I can change the world
and I refuse to believe that
I am part of a lost generation.

Watch it here.

Intersecting Thoughts

While waiting for a green light on the drive home today through Salt Lake downtown three gents crossed the street and one could not help but notice the mechanics and apparent hierarchy of the group. Three men in business suits all carrying briefcases all cold and all cheery to have completed there work for the day. The first was the eldest and most portly of the bunch with a long suit jacket and worn gloves and briefcase that suggested a comfortable settling into a daily weekly monthly yearly pattern of use and wear. Each gray hair working tirelessly to keep hold the trenches against the onslaught of the winters cold as gray comrades are lost to the enemy more and more each day. The second walked as if a shadow of the first; keeping pace and rhythm with his mentor with the hopes those gray hairs would soon be gone and he could take the reigns of whatever it is the bunch was reigning on. And the last is the one that really gave away the contrast of the groups hierarchy. A younger skinnier bloke who stepped lightly and still bounded in his steps suggesting an excitement for this new career or sense of accomplishment being associated with such great colleges. Shorter suit jacket and lack of scarf suggesting his unaccustomed disposition to the daily requirements of comfort the others had come to understand over the years. As they completed their pecking order across the street the three split off on their routes home. The first two following a similar route and perhaps the middle having changed his route to be able to pass more time with the headmaster to further learn his ways before the gray hairs ran out. While the youngest of the bunch broke off and looked on ahead at his own path, as anyone walking down the street would do, but it only slightly divulged of eventually leaving this group and continuing on his own path. Perhaps the wisps and whims of youths indecision distracting his vision of a continued future with the three or maybe just the hope that some day things would be different. An "If I owned the company I would..." thought keeping his head clear of the brown mess accumulating on the seconds head. And then as the light turned green and we accelerated through the intersection I considered what I had in the kitchen cupboards to put down before the cold took hold of the evenings plans.
